This land was covered by thick green forest
then, broken only by peat coloured lakes, chrystal clear rivers
and the many villages scattered throughout the land. It was
a time of High Kings and Chieftains. It was a time when Fionn
Mac Cumbail, Cuchlann and the other members of the Fianna
roamed these lands, protecting the clans from the invaders
from the sea and the wild animals that filled the forests.
It was a time of great peace and plenty.
During this time the O'Ceallaigh clan lived
on the western part of Eire, in a townland called Cong. They
were a clan of five hundred strong. Their Chieftain Óisin
was well respected throughout the land and had many times
protected the clan from dark forces arriving across the oceans.
He had also helped unite the clan with others to create a
time of peace and prosperity for all. His wife Aoife was a
beautiful maiden whom he had loved all his life, ever since
they played in the green fields as children. Together they
had raised seven children who were now beginning to raise
their kin. Times were indeed happy and times were indeed good.
Would it remain as such?
The center of this Sacred land of Eire was
a place called Uisneach. On midsummer's night each year the
clans would gather at this sacred site to celebrate their
lives and give thanks to the Gods and Goddesses for a life
of peace and plenty. Music would abound across the land, dancers
silhouettes would move across the hills and bonfires would
blaze to light their way. Then at midnight everyone would
gather around the sacred stone at Uisneach. Coming together
in silence they would listen as the Goddess Eri (whom Eire
was named after) would offer guidance for the coming year.
After a period of silence and deep devotion
to Eri a cloud of mist would cover the waters of Loch Gur.
Entering a dream like state the clans would first feel her
divine presence. Engaging with this feeling by breathing deeply
their combined vibration would rise. Then from deep within
the mist the heavenly bright figure of Eri would appear sourrounded
by Angels of Light. Many of those gathered would be overcome
with the Love and Light of this apparition yet would welcome
its healing power knowing they were being held in the hand
of God.
Eri would speak her words, as gaeilge, the
language of old. Unlike previous years her words created unease
within the clans. She spoke - "there are times ahead
which require great leadership, strength and courage for darker
forces are at work. They seek to control and disempower the
people for their own hidden agendas. There will be much turmoil,
death and war. Above all in the midst of this darkness that
descends remain connected to the light and shine your light
wherever necessary - it is your light that will illuminate
the darkness. There is much to learn. From this womb of darkness
a new world of Light will be born but you must keep your thoughts,
feelings, words and deeds on the Light to ease its arrival.
Even in the midst of the darkness, look it in the eye and
affirm with all your inner strength
"Love and
Light prevails, Love and Light leads my way"
